Description

We’re hiring a Senior WordPress / Shopify Developer with 5+ years of hands-on experience. You’ll own end-to-end builds—from theme/plugin development to store migrations and API integrations—while shipping to staging and production in a standardized stack.

What sets this role apart: you already use Claude Code, Codex, or Gemini daily as part of your workflow. We want someone who treats AI-assisted coding as a force multiplier, not a novelty.

You’ll work in an agile squad alongside PMs, designers, QA, and fellow devs. Expect autonomy in implementation, light code reviews, and a culture that rewards quick iteration and continuous learning.

Responsibilities
  • Write clean, testable, and efficient code in PHP, JavaScript, Liquid, and related technologies that meets agency coding standards and performance requirements.
  • Own features and tasks from initial specification through development, testing, and deployment to production environments.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Designers, QA specialists, and other Developers to deliver pixel-perfect implementations and robust functionality.
  • Optimize WordPress sites and Shopify stores for core web vitals, speed, security, and scalability.
  • Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, marketing tools, and custom functionality while maintaining security best practices.
  • Perform regular site audits, apply security updates, and implement content model improvements and migrations.
  • Provide accurate time estimates, track time diligently using our designated tool, and maintain detailed task logs in Jira.
  • Make informed technical and architectural decisions, propose improvements, and document rationale for the team when needed.
  • Leverage AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, or equivalent) daily to enhance productivity while ensuring final code meets quality and maintainability standards.
Experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on WordPress development experience, including both front-end and back-end work on production sites
  • 3+ years of Shopify development experience, including theme development, app integrations, and store migrations
  • Proven experience working in Agile environments with Git-based feature-branch workflows
Skills
  • Strong proficiency in PHP and MySQL
  • Deep knowledge of WordPress core, security best practices, WP REST API, Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), and Gutenberg block development
  • Proficiency with Shopify Liquid, Shopify CLI, theme and section development, metafields, and storefront performance optimization
  • HTML5, CSS3 (including modern preprocessors), JavaScript (ES6+), and responsive design across breakpoints
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs and services (e.g., Stripe, Klaviyo, Google APIs, CRM tools)
  • Local development environments (Docker, Local by Flywheel, Laravel Valet, MAMP, etc.) and debugging workflows
  • Git feature-branch workflow with pull requests and code reviews
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and cross-browser compatibility
  • Performance optimization techniques for both WordPress and Shopify
Bonus
  • Experience with headless WordPress (WPGraphQL, Next.js) or Shopify Hydrogen / Oxygen
  • Previous agency or client-service environment experience
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines or automated testing in WordPress/Shopify projects
  • Experience migrating WooCommerce to Shopify or vice versa
